UfM/UOC - Enhancing Digital Education in the Mediterranean14 October 2024
Digital transformation in higher education, digital ecosystems, eLearning and technology-enhanced learning have become increasingly prevalent concepts and needs in recent years. Governments and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have been compelled to address their digital transformation in a variety of ways and develop more flexible teaching methods, while maintaining the quality of their educational processes. Such transformation is essential for meeting the needs of highly digitalised societies and the labour market.
To assist HEIs in their digital transformation, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) are offering a series of two training workshops and a publication for senior academic leaders, management, and teaching staff in the Mediterranean region. The first training block, which will take place on the 4 and 5 November, is 6.5 hours long over two days and will be delivered in a webinar format for ease of follow-up. The second training block will be held on 2 and 3 December, and the publication by the mid-December.
The first training block is entitled Leading the digital transformation in Higher Education: models, leadership, and quality assurance. A course for academic leaders, managers and teaching staff. It will focus on leading the digital transformation in higher education, exploring models, leadership, and quality assurance, and it is designed for academic leaders, managers and teaching staff.
You can register for the programme by clicking on the following link.
Please note that UfM/UOC certificates of attendance will be issued to those participants who attend at least 80% of the scheduled sessions. -

ENIS - Webinar on International Student Mobility in Higher Education2 October 2024
Join us for the next webinar organised by Working Group 5 of the ENIS COST Action (European Network on International Student Mobility), in partnership with the Research with International Students community. This session will be moderated by Cosmin Nada (education researcher and consultant, ENIS WG5 co-leader), and will delve into a longstanding yet persistent issue in the field of international student mobility: the lack of meaningful interaction between local and international students. This issue is extremely relevant since it can jeopardise the potential benefits of higher education internationalisation and international student mobility, which are known for improving cultural understanding, intercultural competences and enhancing mutual learning.
Despite years of research and efforts to address this problem, recent studies continue to show that insufficient interaction or even segregation continue to divide these groups, be it inside or outside the classroom and the campus.
In this webinar, key experts in the field of international student mobility, namely Alina Schartner (Newcastle University) and Kazuhiro Kudo (Dokkyo University) will present the available evidence on this issue and identify key factors and potential solutions.
Alejandra Vicencio (Northumbria University) will provide her perspective as a higher education practitioner concerned with this issue, sharing practical examples from her institution and highlighting steps taken to promote more meaningful student interaction.
This webinar is designed to stimulate thinking among international student mobility researchers and higher education practitioners, offering them concrete ideas for addressing this ongoing challenge.Registration : Make sure you save your spot by registering for the Webinar here
