The Mediterranean Universities Gender Equality Pioneers initiative, in collaboration with MEDNIGHT and EWORA, is a groundbreaking opportunity for universities across the Mediterranean Region to be recognized as leaders in advancing gender equality within academia.
Overview of the Initiative:
The initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate universities that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to fostering gender equality within their academic ecosystems. Through a rigorous evaluation process, the initiative seeks to identify universities that not only prioritize inclusivity and diversity but also achieve tangible results in promoting gender equality.
The Mediterranean Universities Gender Equality Pioneers initiative stands as a testament to progress, inspiring further advancements toward a more equitable and inclusive academic landscape in the Mediterranean Region.
Application Process:
The application process for the Mediterranean Universities Gender Equality Pioneers initiative has been meticulously designed to ensure a thorough evaluation of participating universities’ efforts. It will involve the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data, providing a comprehensive view of each institution’s initiatives, policies, and achievements related to gender equality.
Apply by October 15, 2024, to be recognized as a leading Mediterranean university on gender equality. Selected universities will be honored at a GALA event in Brussels in March 2025. Please click here for the application form

Linnaeus University - Call for papers for the 3rd International Symposium on Digital Transformations (ISDT2024)28 May 2024
A call for papers is still open for the 3rd annual International Symposium on Digital Transformation that will take place on 11–13 September, and will again be hosted by Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden after two successful events in 2022 and 2023. Organized by LNU’s Digital Transformations Knowledge Environment, the event welcomes participants from around the world to present and engage with different possibilities, current efforts and rising trends in the emerging field of Digital Transformation.
In 2024, the symposium will concentrate on the following themes:Collaborative approaches to digital transformation with a demonstrated liaison between academia, the public and private sectors.
Engagement with digital transformation by combining methodologies and theoretical approaches from different disciplines.
Examples of digital transformation.
Ethical implications of digital transformation.
We see the following research areas as highly relevant to these four themes:Digital learning & the digitalization of education

The Magna Charta Observatory (MCO) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2024 MCO Student Essay Competition.
Following the success of last year’s event, this competition offers a unique opportunity for university students worldwide to reflect on and propose changes to enhance inclusivity within their higher education experience.The competition is open to students registered in any university in any country. Their participation will not only contribute to the global dialogue on inclusivity in higher education but also offer them a chance to present their ideas on an international platform.
Entries are accepted starting from May 20th 2024. The closing date for the submission of essays is 5 July 2024.
The winners will be announced on 27 August 2024.

UNIMED - The Future of Higher Education in the Mediterranean. The Student’s Perspective is out!22 May 2024
UNIMED is glad to share with you the report “The Future of Higher Education in the Mediterranean. The Student’s Perspective” which is the collection of a series of recommendations done by more than 20 students coming from the Euro-Mediterranean region with the support of UNIMED and the Erasmus Students Network - ESN.
UNIMED and ESN are collaborating in a joint initiative: the Mediterranean Student Summit (MSS) whose main goal is to increase mutual awareness and understanding among students from the Mediterranean region and to support the development of competencies that help them to work together on societal challenges and to establish meaningful connection.
During the MSS second edition, held on September 20th-22nd, 2023 at the premises of the University Abdelmalek Essaâdi in Morocco, the students participating in the event conducted a deep analysis of challenges concerning Higher Education in the Region, related to key themes such as the internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions, governance, inclusion (with a focus on gender dimensions), digital education, and greening/sustainable development and elaborated a series of recommendations to be brought to the first Union for the Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Higher Education.These recommendations are addressed to universities, national and international stakeholders and are an invitation to reflect on what we can do together to bring concrete solutions. UNIMED and ESN wish that this student reflection may inspire a political change and set the tone for positive changes in the region.
