  • University of Tehran - 8th International Biennial Conference on Ultrafine Grained and Nanostructured Materials

    The 8th International Biennial Conference on Ultrafine Grained and Nanostructured Materials (UFGNSM2021) will be held during 6th-7th of November 2021 in Tehran. The conference is organized by Center of Excellence for Materials in Low Energy Consumption Technologies (formerly C.E. for high performance Materials), School of Metallurgy and Materials, College of Engineering, University of Tehran in a joint collaboration with University of Trento, Italy. UFGNSM will feature a scientific program of Keynote lectures and invited talks by world-eminent scientists, oral and poster presentations of peer-reviewed contributions to share the most recently breaking research development in Ultrafine Grained and Nanostructured Materials.

    Materials scientists, physicists, chemists, biomedical scientists, mechanical and electronic engineers, as well as other researchers who are active at the frontiers of this diverse and multidisciplinary field are invited to take this opportunity to join us at this event to exchange ideas, network with scientists from around the world, and hear the latest about various disciplines in ultrafine grained and nanostructured materials.   • Saint-Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (UMTE) turns 30

    IAU is very pleased to congratulate UMTE on its 30th Anniversary. We are very pleased to count UMTE as an esteemed Member since 2011 and to work with Rector, Prof. Oleg Smechko. Rector Smeshko was elected to the IAU Administrative Board as Deputy Board Member at the IAU 16th General Conference, in Thailand, in 2016.
    Created in 1990, St. Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (UMTE) is the largest private university in the North-West of Russia, operating under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It implements over 90 educational programs of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies in the following areas: economics, management, public administration, information technologies, law, advertising and PR, marketing, linguistics, hotel business and tourism, personnel management, psychology and pedagogy etc.
    The university has introduced an effective system of life-long learning education under the programs of college, undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and additional education. Modern technologies, distance and online learning are actively used in studies at UMTE. The university has over 12000 students, including more than 1000 international students.
    The university has rich experience in international cooperation with more than 70 partners abroad, including the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, China, the Netherlands, USA, Finland, France and other countries. UMTE students and teachers are actively involved in academic mobility programs. The university implements international educational and research projects.
    In 2020, the University organized a year full of festivities, special events and greetings from partners, colleagues and friends. Due to the pandemic most events were connected to the activities on overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Spring 2020 UMTE successfully transformed its studies to online mode. During the virtual enrollment campaign the university managed to increase the number of students that proves high quality of studies and managerial processes.

  • Zhejiang University calls IAU members for participation in research project survey

    Zhejiang University is conducting a new research project on international university alliances and invites IAU members to participate in a survey. This project seeks to analyse good practices and lessons for creating and managing international university alliances.   • IIE American Passeport Project

    Through the IIE American Passport Project, IIE will make grants to U.S. colleges and universities in the IIENetwork starting in spring 2021, so they can help students who are eligible for Pell grants obtain a U.S. passport. Eligibility will be limited to first-year students to ensure that the students have ample time remaining in their college careers and receive help from their advisors to map out a study abroad plan. In this first year, IIE will provide grants to up to 40 U.S.-based IIENetwork member universities and colleges to cover the costs of approximately 25 passports for Pell-eligible U.S. freshmen.

    IIE will select a diverse group of U.S.-based IIENetwork member universities and colleges – including community colleges, HBCUs, MSIs, liberal arts colleges, and universities – with a demonstrated commitment to diversifying study abroad. Award recipients will be chosen by a competitive selection process, and selected institutions will submit nominated students for IIE’s review and approval. IIE will make grant payments to selected institutions that will be responsible for dispersing funds to students.

    The institutional application will open in late February 2021. Members can contact membership@iie.org to ensure they are eligible for the award.

  • University of Tehran (UT) and Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) - International Festival 2021

    University of Tehran (UT) and Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) International Festival will be held on the 13th of February 2021 virtually, at 8:00-10:30 (Tehran Time).
    This festival will host international students, professors and local and foreign dignitaries online.

  • New Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of the network for transdisciplinary research (td-net)

    A partnership brought together the Network for Transdisciplinary Research td-net, the Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Swiss Universities of Basel, Bern and Geneva, Universities of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and Luzern, ETH Zurich, University for Teacher Education Zug, to produce a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Transdisciplinary Research "Partnering for Change - Link Research to Societal Challenges" is starting on 22 February and will stay open during 2021.   • UVED has just set up a Moodle platform

    The Virtual University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UVED) has just set up a Moodle platform. The purpose of this platform is to enable institutions to benefit from services, to retrieve the contents of the UVED MOOCs, to integrate them more easily into their own platform, to facilitate their reappropriation by teachers and thus to develop uses within the framework of initial training activities. It also means enabling teachers to have access to quality educational content to train themselves and their students.
    All the UVED thematic trails (videos that make up the MOOCs produced and coordinated by UVED) have been integrated into this platform, as well as 2 transversal trails. There are currently 23 training programmes distributed as follows: 19 courses in French, 2 in English and 2 transversal courses.
