  • Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico) - Call for Participation to the Virtual International Collaboration Courses (VIC)

    The International Office of the Universidad Veracruzana launches a call for participation to the Virtual International Collaboration (VIC) programme, that they will be organizing online, from September 30th, 2019, to January 30th, 2020, through the EMINUS platform. The aim of the course is to guide participants in the development of an educational intervention with an international partner. The course (30hours) is free with limited availability.   • UNINETTUNO - S.S. Lazio joint Project: Football – Education - Culture

    The International Telematic University UNINETTUNO together with Lazio football team launched the Project "Football – Education – Culture”, dedicated to the young footballers. Taking in consideration that in Italy only the 45% of young sport talents become professionals, the Project was born from the urgency to support young men and women to follow their athletic career while studying at the university, thanks to the flexibility of the e-learning model and platform of UNINETTUNO, young footballers will have a great new opportunity to build their future beyond successes in sport.

  • Boston College Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) - Faculty Position Announcement

    In 2020, the Boston College Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) will celebrate a quarter of a century of research and service to the global higher education community. CIHE was established and led by Professor Philip Altbach from its founding in 1995 until his retirement in 2013. Professor Hans de Wit took over and assumed the role of Director and has led the Center ably in the ensuing period. Professor De Wit will retire from his position as full-time CIHE Director in November 2020. Former CIHE leaders Philip Altbatch and Hans de Wit have agreed to continue working for CIHE, as part-time joint Academic Directors, effective November 2020. Current Associate Director, Rebecca Schendel will assume the position of Managing Director of the Center. In addition, CIHE will recruit a new full-time faculty position in International Higher Education to strengthen their team. Please consult the document below for more information.

  • ACA-CMEPIUS Conference - Call for Participation

    The ACA-CMEPIUS conference: "The engaged university. Linking the global and the local", will take place on 17-18 October 2019 in Bled, Slovenia. During the event different themes such as internationalisation, social responsibility, civic engagement, active citizenship and ’service learning’, innovation and knowledge and technology transfers, diversity and inclusion, as well as ethics and values will be discussed.   • Register for Magna Charta Annual Conference

    The Magna Charta Observatory, (MCO) an organization committed to advancing academic freedom and service to society, is holding its annual conference on 16 and 17 October 2019 in Hamilton, Canada, at the McMaster University, an IAU member. The theme of the MCO conference 2019 is : "University freedoms and responsibilities: responding to the challenges of the future". The conference is open to university leaders and their representatives, higher education professionals and students, policy-makers and higher education stakeholders from all sectors to attend the event.   • EUA seeks new Secretary General

    The EUA Board is seeking to appoint a new Secretary General to succeed Lesley Wilson, who will step down later this year.
    Lesley Wilson has been with EUA since its creation, serving as Secretary General since 2002.
    Reporting to EUA’s President and Board, the Secretary General will co-develop and implement the Association’s strategic plan with a focus on delivering greater impact for universities; deeper working relationships and partnerships; as well as membership growth. He will also lead a team of 40 staff across offices in Brussels and Geneva, overseeing a €5 million operating budget.

  • UNICA - e-Handbook on the Promotion of Higher Education Values

    The electronic publication ’Promoting Core Higher Education Values - Testimonies from the field that has been realized in the framework of the Erasmus + Project, Academic Refuge is now available online.
    The project "Academic Refuge" is a partnership between the University of Oslo, UNICA-Network of Universities from Capitals of Europe, the Scholars at Risk Network (SAR), and the University of Ljubljana, funded by the European Commission under Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships.
    The e-publication was developed for Higher education stakeholders, refugee students and scholars, scholars at risk, NGOs, networks and Associations working in related fields seeking guidance and examples on how to put the academic values into practice. More than 25 examples from all over the world illustrate best practices to put core higher education values into practice at a university.

  • One Caribbean Symposium organised by Universities Caribbean

    "One Caribbean solutions symposium" was organised on 13-14 June by Universities Caribbean and hosted by the University of the West Indies. The main objective of this forum was to create awareness among rectors and presidents of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and other stakeholders of the important role that universities play in the advocacy for finding practical solutions to challenges faced by the Caribbean and Latin American (LAC) region.   • UNA Europa alliance receives prestigious grant to launch European University of the Future

    Twenty years after the Bologna Declaration to develop the European Higher Education Area, seven leading research-intensive universities have been granted 5 million euros of EU funding to kick-start their joint strategy to consolidate a European University ecosystem. By driving innovative education and research collaboration across seven of Europe’s largest comprehensive universities, the UNA Europa alliance is equipped to address the challenges of the future.

    The UNA Europa partners are Freie Universität Berlin, Alma Mater Studiorum Universitá di Bologna, University of Edinburgh, Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, KU Leuven, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. UNA Europa’s 1EUROPE project is among the first European University pilots that the European Commission announced on June 26. UNA Europa will receive funding for this three-year pilot under the Erasmus+ Programme.

  • CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences selected by the European Commission

    The European Commission has chosen to fund the university alliance CIVICA, founded by two IAU members the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (Romania) and Central European University (Hungary) and five other universities: Bocconi University (Italy), the European University Institute (European Intergovernmental Organization), the Hertie School of Governance (Germany), Sciences Po (France, lead institution for the project) and the Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden). CIVICA will also be joined by the London School of Economics and Political Science (United Kingdom) as an Associated partner. Selected by the European Commission as one of the pilot European Universities, the application of CIVICA received 92/100 points.
    As announced on June 26 by the Commission a total of 54 applications were received, of which 17 have been selected and awarded funding.
