  • AAU 16th General Conference – Shaping the Future of Higher Education for Innovation and Sustainable Development in Africa

    The Association of African Universities (AAU) will hold its 16th Quadrennial General Conference from July 21–25, 2025, in Rabat, Morocco, hosted byMohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) (an IAU member) and Mohammed V University (UM5).

    Under the theme “Shaping the Future of Higher Education for Innovation and Sustainable Development in Africa”, the event aims to unite higher education stakeholders — including university leaders, researchers, policymakers, students, and industry partners — to address challenges and explore strategies for sustainable development in line with Africa’s Agenda 2063.

    The conference will feature scientific sessions, panel discussions, and exhibitions, all focused on enhancing access to education, fostering innovation, and aligning curricula with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • AAU - UoN | Strategic Financial Planning and Resource Mobilisation Workshop

    The Association of African Universities (AAU), in collaboration with the University of Nottingham (UoN) is organizing a five-day workshop titled: Strategic Financial Planning and Resource Mobilisation to provide a platform for sharing best practices, discussing emerging trends, and building capacity in the financial management of higher education institutions.
    The financial management landscape in higher education institutions across Africa is evolving rapidly, driven by the increasing demands for transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
    As key financial leaders, Bursars, Accountants, Directors of Finance, and Internal Auditors, together with Registrars, University Administrators, and other strategic leaders, play a pivotal and coordinated role in ensuring the sound and sustainable financial health of their institutions.
    This workshop seeks to support these professionals in navigating the dynamic challenges of financial management.
    Date: 2nd June – 6th June 2025
    Venue: University of Nottingham-Nottingham, UK
    Registration Fee: US$2,500 per person, 2-4 persons from the same institution: US$2,300, 5 and above from the same institution: US$2000.

  • Siam University Strengthens Global Partnerships at APAIE Conference 2025

    The International Association of Universities (IAU) was proudly represented at the APAIE Conference earlier this week by the Presidents of Siam University and CETYS University.
    During the conference, Siam University had the opportunity to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the APAIE host, and also IAU Member O.P. Jindal Global University, further strengthening global collaboration in higher education.

    Additionally, Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University, former IAU Board Member, and Cluster Lead, participated in a panel discussion on Internationalization and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) alongside IAU Board Member Fernando León-García, President of CETYS University.

    Professor Nana Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Program Committee Member of the Glion Colloquium Association, and Administrative Board Member of the International Association of Universities, will represent the IAU as a speaker at the webinar: “Universities at a Crossroad: Strengthening Partnerships in Science for Societal Well-Being.”

    Co-hosted by The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Glion Colloquium Association, this dialogue will bring together university leaders and funding experts to explore how universities and their research partners can strengthen collaborations to tackle pressing global challenges. At a time of declining public trust in science and higher education, cross-institutional, cross-border, and cross-sector partnerships are crucial to maximizing the impact of research.

  • 2025 European Quality Assurance Forum - Call for contributions

    The 2025 European Quality Assurance Forum will take place on 12 to 14 November, hosted by Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary.

    This year’s Forum will focus on the theme of ‘QA in times of crises – Ensuring stability, autonomy and international cooperation in higher education’ and discuss how quality assurance can support the higher education sector in responding to current and emerging challenges. During the Forum, paper sessions, workshops and poster presentations will provide space for more in-depth exchange about research, policy initiatives and practical case examples related to the Forum theme and more generally about current developments in QA.

    As such, the EQAF 2025 Programme Committee invites proposals for papers, workshops and poster presentations. The call for contributions welcomes submissions from quality assurance practitioners at higher education institutions and quality assurance agencies, students and researchers in the field. The deadline to submit proposals is 22 June 2025.
