Prof. Paulo Alexander Da Silva Pereira, Head of the Environmental Management Laboratory at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), together with a team of researchers, is implementing the Horizon 2020 project "InBestSoil" ("Monetary valuation of soil ecosystem services and development of incentives for investment in soil health: integrating the topic of soil health into business and policy making"), which is aimed at developing a framework for investing in soil health. The project was born out of the need to address the degradation of more than half of Europe’s soils, which costs around €50 billion annually. Involving 19 partners representing universities, farmers, NGOs and enterprises from 10 countries, InBestSoil will provide data, evidence, tools and models to assess how investment in soil health can contribute to long-term resilient and sustainable use of soil.

Utrecht University withdraws from the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings 20245 October 2023
Utrecht University (UU) has deliberately decided not to provide any data to the makers of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings which is why the university is not featured in the 2024 list.
According to UU, the rankings put too much stress on scoring and competition, while they want to rather focus on partnership and open science.
