Terms of use

The present general conditions defines the terms of access and use of the International Association of Universities www.iau-aiu.net, hereinafter referred to as “IAU website”.

The IAU website allows the user to access a variety of information related to IAU activities as well as activities from its members.
Access and/or use of the IAU website automatically imply unconditional acceptance and respect of all the terms and conditions described in this agreement.

Any user who refuses all or part of these general conditions is to give up the use of the portal.

IKOULA’s General Conditions for the Hosting of Personal Data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in effect since May 25, 2018

Definitions

User: The user is any person who uses the Website or any of the services offered on the website.
User content: The term "User content" means the data transmitted by the user in the various sections of the Website.

Access to the service

The website is available free of charge to any user with access to the Internet. All costs associated with access to the portal or relating to hardware, software or Internet access are exclusively the responsibility of the user. The latter is solely responsible for the proper functioning of computing equipment as well as for access to the Internet.
The IAU reserves the right to modify, restrict or remove any information from the website, at its sole discretion.
The IAU reserves the right to deny access, at its sole discretion and without notice, to all or part of IAU website and/or to one or more users.

Intellectual property

Use of the acronym, the logo and/or the domain name of IAU website is conditional to express authorization by IAU. This authorization must be requested in advance, in writing, and must be implemented and executed in accordance with the terms and conditions specified, including visual, duration and scope.

Content

The information contained in the IAU website is presented for information purposes. The IAU allows the users of the IAU website only to share this information and download documents for personal and non-commercial use. In accordance with Law N° 78 - 17 of January 6, 1978, relating to computers, data processing files and freedoms, you have the right to oppose, access, and modify data relating to you. You can ask, on simple request to the webmaster, that the information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete, ambiguous, misleading, out-dated, or whose collection, use, disclosure or storage is prohibited, be rectified, completed, clarified, updated or deleted.

IAU Privacy Policy (as of 25 May 2018)

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) come into effect in Europe on 25 May 2018. More information on this regulation is available here.

The GDPR provides individuals with opportunities to control how personal information is being used and sets obligations. IAU developed a GDPR compliant Privacy Policy Statement that was adopted by the IAU Administrative Board at the IAU International Conference in Kuala Lumpur in November 2018.

Data use

IAU, the global higher education association, created in 1950 is based at UNESCO, in Paris, and aims at Building a Global Higher Education Community.

IAU developed and maintains the IAU-UNESCO World Higher Education Database (WHED) and holds data sets related to activities to meet the needs of the higher education community globally, including for disseminating our communications, for international conferences, seminars, workshops, surveys etc. WHED data on Higher Education systems and institutions from around the world is provided by national bodies and individual institutions. It is used for the common good and not for commercial purposes.

IAU uses the data to connect stakeholders working in and on higher education around the world and to create the kind of synergies that are conducive to advance higher education partnership around the world by sharing information on higher education.

Responsibility

Site content is delivered "as is." The IAU website contains information, documents and materials from various sources of information. The IAU does not vouch for the accuracy or completeness and neither the reliability of this information. The user uses it at his/her own risk.

To the portal
Any external website may provide a hyperlink to IAU website portal or any of its pages without the need to seek permission.

From the portal
IAU website offers, for convenience, a series of hyperlinks to web sites published and/or managed by third parties, in particular higher education institutions including IAU members. The IAU has no control over these external resources. Also, the user acknowledges that the IAU assumes no responsibility for the availability and content of these resources.

Cookies

The IAU website uses cookies to provide users with extensive functions, to make the website more accessible and to optimize it. Cookies are small files that are saved to user device via the web browser.

Most cookies are only required for as long as you access the current service or continue your session. They are removed or they expire when you leave the IAU website. These are session cookies.

Permanent cookies are saved for a longer period. Their role is to recognize a user when opening the IAU website at a later point. It means that the user can call up saved settings again, e.g. specify the relevant language. They are automatically erased upon the expiry of a certain period.

Evolution of this agreement

The IAU reserves the right to change the terms, conditions, and notices of this agreement at any time. It is therefore recommended that the user regularly consult the latest version of the General terms of use available on the site www.iau-aiu.net.
