Durban University of Technology (South Africa) – New Vice-Chancellor


Professor Thandwa Mthembu took function as Vice-Chancellor and Principal at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) on 01 October 2016. Prior to that, he was Vice-Chancellor and Principal at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) since 2007. Prof Mthembu holds a PhD in Mathematics and has published mathematics papers in international journals. He succeeded to Dr John Volmink whose five month acting term as DUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal expired on Friday, 30 September 2016. More

University of Ghana - New Governing Council


The University of Ghana has a new governing Council, composed of 28 personalities which will be responsible for the governance and implementation of the 2014 – 2024 Strategic Plan of the University. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, assured the Council members of his commitment to collaborate and work effectively with them toward achieving the vision of the University of Ghana to become a world-class research intensive university over the next decade. Moi University (Kenya) - 11th International Conference


Moi University will be organising their 11th International Conference from 13-17th September 2016, at Margaret Thatcher Library, Moi University, main campus. The theme for this year is: "Aligning training, research and service to sustanaible development goals", different themes and sub-themes will be adressed such as topics related to health research, social wellbeing, business models innovations, gender and environment. Regent's University London - International Partners' Conference 2017


The Regent's University London in partnership with The Observatory on Bordeless Higher Education will be hosting the 7th edition of International Partners' Conference that will take place from 10th to 13th January 2017 under the theme: Intercultural Education: Global Citizenship in Changing World Scenarios. This event will be a platform for leading figures in the higher education sector as well as guests from the business community to discuss issues linked to international higher education. More


Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain) - the European Leadership School


The UOC organizes the European Leadership School in Barcelona, 14-18 November 2016. It is aimed at heads and directors of European higher education institutions – presidents, rectors, vice presidents, deans of faculty and directors of units – who are interested in learning, sharing and developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for correct decision-making regarding the uses of digital technologies in e-learning, distance learning, MOOCs, and educational digital transformation in teaching and learning in the classroom and online.


University of Antonio Nariño (Colombia) - Latin America Universities Summit


The Time Higher Education and the University of Antonio Nariño invite you to attend the first Latin America Universities Summit that they are organizing from 6 to 8 July 2016 at the Hotel Bogota Plaza in Bogota, Colombia. More than 200 attendees from the academic communities, specialized educational press, Ministry of Education representatives, Latin American Accrediting Agencies and Research Institutes will be present. Ara Institute of Canterbury (New Zealand) - New Institution


IAU is pleased to report that our member Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) merged with Aoraki Polytechnic to form the new institution : Ara Institute of Canterbury. It presents itself as “a vibrant, progressive, government-funded tertiary institute providing world-class, tertiary-level education throughout the Canterbury and Waitaki region. Ara was created in 2016 when CPIT and Aoraki Polytechnic merged, bringing together two well-established organisations and over 200 years of collective experience and success. Ara is the Māori word for path or journey. It represents the learning process, the many pathways to success, and the routes and rivers that criss-cross the Canterbury Plains from the mountains to the sea.”
