The Green Office at the University of Gothenburg is an international model in which students becomes actively involved in the enviromental and sustainabilty work by being hired part-time by the University. The student's job is to coordinate and develop the participation of their peers in the University's sutainability efforts. The University of Gothenburg offers Sweden's widest range of courses in the field of enviromnent and sustanaible development, and environmental research is carried out in a large number of subjet areas. Institute of International Education (IIE) - Platform for Education in Emergencies Response


The Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Catalyst Foundation for Universal Education have launched an online clearinghouse to connect displaced students with opportunities to continue their education in safety around the world. With support of eight international organizations, the new IIE Platform for Education in Emergencies Response (IIE-PEER) currently offers more than 600 scholarships, language learning and online courses in numerous countries for college and graduate students whose access to education has been cut off by crises in their home countries. York University (Canada) - New President and Vice-Chancellor


Rick Waugh, Chair of York University’s Board of Governors, has announced the appointment of Dr. Rhonda Lenton as the next President and Vice-Chancellor of York University, effective 1 July 2017, for a five-year term. Prior to her nomination, Dr. Lenton served as York University’s Vice-President Academic and Provost since 2012. Succeeding Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri, she becomes York’s eighth President. More


Association of African Universities (AAU) - Partnership with eLearnAfrica


New online learning platform, eLearnAfrica, has partnered with the Association of African Universities to expand access to its courses to a targeted 10 million students across the continent. Etienne Ehouan Ehile, Secretary-General of the AAU, mentionned that building capacities of African universities to be innovative in their teaching and learning methods for increased access to quality higher education is top priority for the AAU and that this partnership with eLearnAfrica will help them achieve this goal. Third Trimester Field Practical Programme, University for Development Studies in Ghana


The University for Development Studies in Ghana is currently accepting applications from International Students for the Third Trimester Field Practical Programme. The programme is a key component of the overall objective of the Univeristy to "blend the academic world with that of the community in order to provide constructive interaction between the two for the total development of Northern Ghana in particular and the country as a whole”.

Dr Joanna Newman appointed Secretary General of the Association of Commonwealth Universities


The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is pleased to announce that Dr Joanna Newman has been appointed as the next Secretary General of the organisation. Dr Joanna Newman, currently Vice-Principal (International) of King's College London, UK, will take up the post on 3 April 2017. She succeeds Professor John Wood in the role.
